CADEM: “The song is very funky and positive.” [Interview]

With Söngvakeppni semifinal two taking place tonight, we spoke to CADEM, a new band from Sweden and Iceland. Read what they had to say below!
escXtra.com: Hey guys! Thanks for doing this interview. How are you preparing for Söngvakeppni Sjónvarpsins 2015?
CADEM: Right now we are rehearsing our dance routines every day until the competition starts. We got a wonderful team of people around us that are helping us to get ready and making sure we’re having fun on the way. We just met up with our clothing designer today and our outfits are going to be out of this world awesome! 🙂
X: Who are your musical idols?
C: We have very different musical idols actually. Caroline is really into R&B and Hip Hop and her favourite artist is Kid Cudi. Emelie is super mainstream and she’s head over heels with Taylor Swift at the moment. Daniel worships Michael Jackson and Toni Braxton ( and Britney Spears! )  We just love music. I guess it’s hard to name just one thing but we listen to music A LOT!
X: How would you describe your music style?
C: We don’t really want to categorise ourselves so early in our career but at the moment we kind of agree that Pop / Soft funk is absolutely the direction we’re going now.
X: Where does the name CADEM come from?
C: Well it’s actually a mix up of our names CARRO, DANIEL, EMELIE .. Get it? 🙂
X: Why did you decide to apply for Söngvakeppnin 2015?
C: That is actually our manager, Victoria Ekeberg that got the idea from the beginning. We think she had an epiphany cause one day we were talking about releasing the song as a single and the other day she was completely sure we were supposed to go to Eurovision.
X: What can you tell us about your song Fyrir Alla?
C: Well, It’s definitely a FEEL GOOD song! It’s very funky and positive and gets you in a good mood. We just want to make sure we have fun on the stage so the audience can feel good, even better if they break out in dance.
X: If you’d win Söngvakeppnin, would you sing in English or Icelandic in Eurovision?
C: We will probably sing the song in English because we originally wrote it that way and we would love for people to hear both versions of the song.
X: What’s your favourite place in Iceland?
C: Carro had a really good time when we went clubbing down town Reykjavík. She’s the youngest of us so that is actually not surprising. We haven’t gotten the change to travel around the country yet because of the crazy schedule but we’re planning on doing the whole experience. Blue Lagoon, helicopter tour over the eruption in Bárðarbunga  and Akureyri city is also on the agenda. 🙂
X: Do you watch Eurovision every year?
C: YES YES YES! We are all big fans of Eurovision. Just the fact that we are able to take part in the Icelandic preliminary is a tremendous honour.
X: Do you have an all time favourite Eurovision song?
C: Emelie loves Yohanna’s “Is it true” and Daniel’s all-time favourite song is Iceland’s “Draumur um Nínu” from 1991 and Carro is still getting over the Dima Bilan heartbreak 😉
X: Finally, do you have a message for the readers of escXtra.com?
C: We hope you will enjoy the contest this year and if we get so lucky to represent Iceland in ESC 2015 ….. SEE U IN VIENNA!
escXtra.com would like to thank CADEM for their time and we’d like to wish them the best of luck in tonight’s Söngvakeppni Sjónvarpsins! Watch their song Fyrir Alla below!
