Outside of the Eurovision bubble, we are in the midst of a big week for the music industry. Popular British musician Ed Sheeran released not one but two comeback singles on Friday. The tropical house-infused Shape of You has topped iTunes charts worldwide. Yet, hot on its heels has been Ed’s other single Castle on the Hill. It’s nostalgic lyrics and anthemic guitar-led production has inspired many covers to pop up over the past few days. However, one of the most popular has been by a member of our very own Eurovision family!

Massive social media buzz for Joe!

Just over 48 hours ago, Joe Woolford posted a 30 second cover of Castle on the Hill on his Facebook page. Already it has amassed over one million views, 38,000 reactions, 12,000 shares and 4,000 comments!

Joe is of course familiar to all Eurovision fans after he represented the United Kingdom in Stockholm last year. Alongside bandmate Jake Shakeshaft, he was responsible for scoring a set of douze points for the UK. The Maltese jury’s 12 points to the UK was the country’s first in Eurovision since Bulgaria awarded Blue a maximum score five years earlier. Make sure you keep sharing Joe’s excellent Ed Sheeran cover via social media so he can continue to get the recognition he deserves.

New single for last year’s finalists Darline!

It’s not just Joe from last year’s UK national final that is experiencing social media buzz at the moment. Country-pop duo Darline will be releasing a brand new single on Friday and teased the chorus via their Twitter page earlier today:

We can’t wait for that either! Just over two weeks until the 2017 edition of the UK’s Eurovision: You Decide takes place. Hopefully this time next year we will be celebrating the success of this year’s batch of competing artists!
