German broadcaster NDR has revealed the titles of the songs taking part in their national final. As well as the titles, we now also know who wrote each of the songs. And that gives us some familiar names…
Results of the songwriting camp
Just over a month ago, NDR held a songwriting camp. A variety of local and international songwriters attended the sessions in Berlin. It seems the camp has certainly given Germany some songs to work with. Three of the songs in the list below have been written by someone attending the camp.
- Ivy Quainoo – House On Fire
(W: Jörgen Elofsson, Ali Temposi)
- Michael Schulte – You Let Me Walk Alone
(W: Michael Schulte, Thomas Stengaard, Nisse Ingwersen & Nina Müller)
- Natia Todua – On My Way
(W: Loren Nine Geerts, Ricardo Bettiol, Martin Gallop, Jaro Omar)
- Ryk – You And I
- voXXclub – I mog Di so
(W: Merty Bert, Mike Busse, Philipp Klemz, Lennard Oestmann, Joe Walter & Martin Simma)
- Xavier Darcy – Jonah
(W: Xavier Darcy, Loren Nine Geerts, Axel Ehnström & Thomas Stengaard)
Some composers appear on the list twice. Thomas Stengaard, a Danish composer, has worked on both Michael Schulte’s and Xavier Darcy’s entry for Unser Lied für Lissabon. He has got a bit of Eurovision experience, after Emmelie de Forest won the 2013 contest with “Only Teardrops”, a song he co-wrote.
Also twice on the list is young Dutch talent Loren Nine Geerts. The 20 year old is making her first steps in the Eurovision world. She immediately tries with two songs: “On My Way” and “Jonah” both have her name attached to it.
“Jonah” has another interesting name to it. Not only Geerts and Stengaard, but also Axel Ehnström. Ehnström is known to us Eurovision fans as Paradise Oskar. He represented his native country of Finland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 in Düsseldorf.
Unser Lied für Lissabon is going to take place next Thursday, 22nd February. The six acts will then compete in order to win the right to represent Germany in Lisbon.
If you can’t wait to hear these songs, don’t be scared. NDR will reveal all songs on 20th February, two days before the national final. You will then be able to listen to them all!
