THIS WEEK: Eight new entries confirmed to be released

New songs every day!

The deadline for the countries to submit their Eurovision 2021 entries is fast approaching. Eight countries have confirmed that they will release their entries this week and we are here to give you all the information you need to be the first to hear the songs!

🇦🇹 Austria: Vincent Bueno – Amen

What: Vincent Bueno releases “Amen”
When: Wednesday, 10th March
Where: Ö3-Wecker between 05:00 to 09:00 CET, listen here.

Vincent Bueno will return to represent Austria at the Eurovision Song Contest 2021, after he was set to represent the country at the now-cancelled contest in 2020. For the 2021 contest he will sing “Amen”. For the second time ever, the contest will have two songs with the same name, as Slovenia’s Ana Soklič is also singing her own “Amen” in this year’s contest.

Yesterday the Austrian press got the first listen of the song, but this morning the song is sent out to the public. The song will get its first play on the radio show Ö3-Wecker on the Hitradio Ö3. According to Austrovision, the song is set to be played around 07:10CET.

🇨🇭 Switzerland: Gjon’s Tears

What: Gjon’s Tears releases Eurovision 2021 entry
When: Wednesday 10th March, 16:00CET

So far we didn’t get a lot of information about the song Gjon’s Tears will represent Switzerland with at the Eurovision Song Contest 2021. All we currently know is that the entry was selected in November last year, after holding songwriting sessions with writers from Switzerland and abroad.

Gjon’s Tears is another returning artist from the 2020 contest. He was set to represent Switzerland last year with “Répondez-moi“. While we wait for the song to drop, you can watch our in-depth interview from last May.

🇬🇷 Greece: Stefania – Last Dance

What: Stefania releases “Last Dance”
When: Wednesday 10th March, 16:00CET
Where: ERTFLIX

Greece will be represented in Eurovision Song Contest 2021 by Stefania and “Last Dance”. The song is written by Dimitris Kontopoulos, Arcade and Sharon Vaughn. Initial reports say that the song has an “80s pop” feel, much like the songs of Brit Award-winning artist Dua Lipa.

In preparation for this year’s contest, Stefania recorded five potential entries which were then judged by a committee set up by Greek broadcaster ERT. The song “Last Dance” is set to send out an optimistic message that “this is not the last dance”.

Stefania was also set to represent Greece last year with the song “SUPERG!RL”. The team of her 2021 entry was also responsible of her 2020 entry.

🇧🇬 Bulgaria: VICTORIA

What: VICTORIA releases 2021 entry
When: Wednesday 10th March, 21:00CET
Where: BNT1, eurovision.icard.com and VICTORIA’s YouTube channel.

Bulgaria’s VICTORIA has presented six potential songs and one of them has been selected to represent Bulgaria at the Eurovision Song Contest 2021.

Eurovision fans around the world had the opportunity to share their feedback about VICTORIA’s potential songs for Eurovision 2021 at Bulgaria2021.com. The Bulgarian team also organized focus groups with music, TV and Eurovision experts to rate the six songs.

VICTORIA was chosen to represent Bulgaria at the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 with the song “Tears Getting Sober”. Shortly after the contest was cancelled, the broadcaster announced that VICTORIA is their representative in 2021 as well.

🇬🇧 United Kingdom: James Newman

What: James Newman releases 2021 entry
When: Thursday, 11th of March, around 12:00CET
Where: BBC Radio 2

Ken Bruce of BBC Radio 2 will reveal the entry James Newman will represent United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest 2021. The song is set to get its premiere on the morning show just after 11 CET.

James Newman was internally selected to represent the United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 with “My Last Breath”. Now the BBC has given James a second chance and selected him to represent the country in 2021.

🇲🇰 North Macedonia: Vasil – Here I Stand

What: Vasil releases “Here I Stand”
When: Thursday, 11th of March, 18:00 CET
Where: The official Eurovision YouTube channel

Vasil will represent North Macedonia with “Here I Stand”. The song will be released on the official Eurovision YouTube channel at 18:00 CET. Vasil says the song was born “in the middle of chaos last year” and is inspired by his personal journey. The song is written by Vasil himself and it’s produced and arranged by Borce Kuzmanovski and Davor Jordanovski.

Vasil is another name on a long list of artists returning from 2020. The broadcaster MRT selected him internally as their representative for Eurovision Song Contest 2021, after the 2020 contest was cancelled. Last year Vasil was set to sing “You” at the contest.

🇵🇱 Poland releases internal pick

What: TVP releases Eurovision 2021 entry
When: Friday, 12th of March, 08:55 CET
Where: Pytanie na sniadanie on TVP2

TVP will reveal their Eurovision 2021 representative on the morning TV show Pytanie na śniadanie on TVP2. The show starts at 08:55 CET but the exact time for the artist and song reveal hasn’t been announced.

In 2020, Alicja Szemplińska won Poland’s national selection with “Empires”. While the broadcaster TVP hasn’t revealed if they have picked Alicja for the 2021 contest, she has expressed her wishes to represent the country this year.

🇱🇻 Latvia: Samanta Tīna – The Moon Is Rising

What: Samanta Tīna releases “The Moon Is Rising”
When: Friday, 12th of March, 20:30 CET
Where: YouTube

Over the past weeks, we have been following Samanta Tīna’s Eurovision 2021 preparations on five-part docuseries. This week the entry will finally be released. Recently it was revealed through Samanta Tīna’s YouTube channel that the entry is called “The Moon Is Rising”.

Last year Samanta Tīna won the Latvian national selection Supernova with “Still Breathing”. For 2021 she was chosen internally by the broadcaster LTV to represent Latvia in Rotterdam.

Surprises possible

Three countries have not revealed the release date for their 2021 entries yet. These are Azerbaijan, who will be represented by Efendi, Malta, who will be represented by Destiny and Georgia, who will be represent by Tornike Kipiani with “You”.

This weekend Sweden will choose their Eurovision 2021 representative at Melodifestivalen 2021 and Iceland’s Daði & Gagnamagnið will release their entry “10 years”. More information about the weekend’s shows is coming later this week.
