The Scoop

Will Ferrell & Rachel McAdams were due to perform at Eurovision 2020?

Will Ferrell & Rachel McAdams were reportedly due to perform at Eurovision 2020 earlier this year. Their performance would have formed part of the promotion for the Netflix movie ‘Eurovision: The Story of Fire Saga’.

According to a report by Entertainment Weekly, Ferrell and McAdams were due to perform as their characters at the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 in Rotterdam. The movie was due for release in theatres soon after the contest before heading to streaming on Netflix. The performance would of marked the end of a marketing campaign for the movie. This was to include billboards, a single release and TV appearances. There would of been an attempt to break the song ‘Volcano Man’ into the Billboard charts and a musical guest spot on US comedy show Saturday Night Live.

This all of course had to be cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic, which in turn also cancelled the real Eurovision Song Contest in 2020. The movie was released on Netflix earlier this year and received mixed but mostly favourable reviews from Eurovision fans. The soundtrack for the movie recently was nominated for a Grammy for the Best Compilation Soundtrack For Visual Media. Check out our review article here.
