Kalush Orchestra and Ronela Hajati storm ahead in YouTube views following Eurovision’s first semi

Betting favourites Ukraine have the highest number of views on their performance on the official Eurovision Song Contest YouTube channel following Tuesday night’s first semifinal. Checked at 17:30 CEST on Wednesday, Kalush Orchestra’s live performance has been seen over 1,429,000 times. How is the rest performing? We’ve taken a look.

Ukraine leading YouTube figures

The top five currently looks like the list below. We have only taken the qualified entries into account for this ranking:

  1. Ukraine: 1,429,000
  2. Moldova: 604,190
  3. Greece: 506,088
  4. The Netherlands: 408,513
  5. Norway: 365,500

Going against the results of the show, Albania is the second-highest viewed video. Ronela Hajati didn’t make it through the Grand Final on Saturday, but her live performance of “Sekret” has over 1,020,000 views already – double that of Moldova!

At under 80,000, Bulgaria’s live semifinal performance is currently the least-watched. Of the qualified entries, Iceland is currently in last place. Systur performed “Með Hækkandi Sól” last night and now have 135,000 views – less than 10% of Ukraine’s views.

What do you think? Do these YouTube stats give us an indication of the televote support for some of these entries? How do you do you think Ukraine, Moldova, Greece, The Netherlands and Norway will do in Saturday’s grand final? Let us know! One Comment

  1. YouTube I would not put to much effort in. Unlike in ESC you can watch and like it from your own country. If you look at the comments on Kalush Orchestra most of them are from Ukrainians and most of the views are probably from Ukraine. Same with Albania. Most of the comments are from Albanians around the world.
So I would not give it to much thought..
