Emma Muscat not interested in competing at Eurovision

The Maltese singer has ruled out Eurovision and other singing competitions after her elimination from Amici.

Emma Muscat has stated she is not interested in participating in Eurovision (or any other competition) any time soon.

Emma made the comment at a ‘Welcome Home’ gathering at Malta International Airport. Hundreds of fans descended on the airport to greet Emma as she returned home from her time in Italy.
“I’ve had enough of competitions for now and I want to work on my music and myself now”, the 18-year-old singer said in a press conference. “I really enjoyed my time on Amici – it was one of the best experiences of my life – but I want to take a break from it all now”.

Emma had been competing in the 17th season of the popular talent show, Amici. She was eliminated at the Semi Final stage. The Italian television programme is much like other ‘academy’ shows across Europe such as Operación Triunfo (Spain) or the short-lived BBC (UK) show, “Fame Academy“.

But who is Emma Muscat?

Emma Muscat is a Maltese singer and pianist, who recently shot onto the scene after her performances on the Italian talent show. Having also performed around Europe, it’s unsuprising that people are asking Emma whether she would be interested in the Eurovision Song Contest. However, the 2019 Contest may come too soon for Emma, but we should certainly look out for her name in the future.

Malta at Eurovision

Malta are yet to win the Eurovision Song Contest and have been participating since 1971. Lisbon 2018 was the second consecutive year the country failed to qualify for the Grand Final. The song “Taboo” by Christabelle came 13th in Semi-final 2 with 101 points.
