Östersund has been approached to host the ‘Andra Chansen’ round of Melodifestivalen 2019. SVT has approached them to look at the possibility of hosting the event on March 2, 2019.
Up to the politicians to make the decision

During this week, a meeting was held in the municipal in order to assess the logistics and the practicality of the proposal.  After the meeting took place, the municipal came to the conclusion, that they are capable of hosting Melodifestivalen once again. Putte Eby, who is the Events and Visitor strategy spokesperson of Östersund had the following to say:

“We are very good at getting big sporting events, and it would be great for us if we also got Melodifestivalenlen”

He has also mentioned that the decision to host will ultimately be decided by the politicians.  He has also pointed out that the city would not need to make a greater investment in order to host the event once again, compared to when it hosted it back in 2015.
