No sign of Liechtenstein debut in 2019 after all…

Last year, 1FLTV revealed that they planned to celebrate Liechtenstein’s 300th anniversary with a debut in the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest. The broadcaster planned to secure EBU membership in order to allow this to happen and 1FLTV planned to hold a national selection to choose the nation’s first Eurovision entry. However, in a statement to ESCXTRA.com, the EBU has confirmed that they have received no membership application from 1FLTV despite being just weeks before the Eurovision 2019 provisional application deadline.

Switzerland opt for 2019 internal selection

After failing to qualify for four consecutive contests, Switzerland are taking a drastic move and scrapping their national selection Die Entscheidungsshow. The new Swiss process will take place behind closed doors in which an 100-member public jury and a 20-member international expert panel will select the 2019 Swiss entry, which will be announced sometime after the decision is made later this year.
