It seems that there is no degree of separation between Francesca Michielin and Eurovision! The 2016 representative for Italy has recently said that she would “gladly” return to the contest.
A return is on the cards
During the Giffoni Film Festival, Michielin told the press that she would like to compete at Eurovision again. Moreover, she said that the contest gave her a “wealth of experience”.
No more Sanremo
However, Francesca has no plans on going to Sanremo again. This means she could only return to Eurovision via internal selection, as the winner of Sanremo is given the opportunity to compete at the contest.
I have given and received so much from Sanremo and it is difficult to improve on that experience
She goes on to say that she could never do the work of Sanremo’s Artistic Director Claudio Baglioni. Claudio has recently been the inspiration behind the changes that will take place in Sanremo, starting from next year. Despite this, Francesca recognizes the impact the festival has on Italian artists who have since become very successful.
Michielin at Eurovision 2016
Francesca Michielin represented Italy with her song “No Degree of Separation”. This came after Sanremo 2016 winners Stadio declined the opportunity to go to Stockholm. She finished 16th with 124 points.
