Not content being key in taking Cyprus to Second Place and therefore the island nation’s best ever result. Eleni Foureira is honoured with the Key to the city of Tirana, the capital city of Albania. The country of Eleni’s birth.
Yeah Yeah, Fier!
Eleni Foureira was born in the city of Fier in South West Albania,100 kilometres (62 Miles) south of Tirana. Likewise the city is also the place of birth of fellow 2018 entrant Ermal Meta who sang “Non Mi Avete Fatto Niente” with Fabrizio Moro for Italy and came in Fifth Place with 308 points, three places behind Eleni.
Eleni recieved they key from the Mayor of Tirana, Eriton Veliaj after performing in a concert in Tirana, sponsored by Coca-Cola alongside Eugent Bushpepa who participated for Albania in 2018 with the song “Mall” finishing in Eleventh Place with 184 points.
Philanthropy in Greece.
Alongside to receiving the Key to the City of Tirana. Eleni Foureira pledged to donate money she has made in recent concerts, including Tirana to those affected by the devastating wildfires that have struck Greece that has taken the lives of dozens of Greeks.
About this, Eleni had this to say on her instagram stories.
The most difficult times for Greece find me abroad. But my mind and heart are close to our fellowmen who are facing this tough time. The least I can do is to pray for them and offer with my colleagues our revenues from our last three concerts. #PrayforGreece
Eleni Foureira in Eurovision.
Eleni Foureira competed for Cyprus in 2018 with the song “Fuego”. Written by Alex P, Geraldo Sandell, Viktor Svensson and Anderz Wrethov. It was performed in Semi-Final One. It came Second with 262 points due to this it qualified for the Final. In the Final, it again came Second scoring 436 points. As a result she achieved Cyprus’ best ever finish at the contest.
