Supernova submissions to open next weekend as Laura Rizzotto reflects on Eurovision experience

Last month, LTV confirmed that Latvia would participate in the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest in Israel. Furthermore, LTV revealed that Supernova would once again be Latvia’s selection process. Now, LTV has confirmed that interested artists will able to submit entries for Supernova 2019 from September 3rd.

Seven weeks to submit

Yes, interested artists will be able to submit their entries to LTV when the window opens next weekend on September 3rd. The submissions window will remain open until October 21st. While LTV is yet to release the official rules of Supernova 2019, it is expected they will do so in the coming days.

“A very intense experience”

Alongside this information, LTV also interviewed Laura Rizzotto, winner of Supernova 2018, at the Summer Sound Festival. Asked what she made of her Eurovision experience, Laura explains (translated from Latvian):

Eurovision is a unique experience that changes lives! There’s the opportunity to meet other artists from other lands! To sing in a Eurovision arena was like a dream come true. After Eurovision, I’ve become a lot more professional. It was a very intense experience, and I am very grateful that I was given this opportunity to represent Latvia in the Eurovision Song Contest.

“Eurovision is such a good atmosphere”

Laura placed 12th in the second semi-final of the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest with Funny Girl finishing just five points away from that all-important top ten finish. Funny Girl received the majority of its points from the national juries, placing 6th on jury votes alone in the second semi-final.

With this valuable experience, Laura tells LTV what recommendations she would make to future Latvian Eurovision participants:

Of course, you will feel some pressure. You have been entrusted with such an opportunity: to represent Latvia in the best possible way, and it is a big job. It was a very busy time, and there was little time to sleep, but at the same time, it was also great fun. Therefore, I suggest, do not worry very much, but enjoy the opportunity given to you!

Also, think of how your song will be able to adapt the concept of the big Eurovision stage before you submit your song to the selection because afterwards there is so little time to create a concept. But above all, have fun! Eurovision is such a good atmosphere!
