Cyprus’ Eurovision 2023 entry will be selected internally

However, 'All Together Now' is set to be used to select their entry for 2024!

Back in October 2021, it was reported that Panik Records were planning a public selection for Cyprus’ 2023 entrant. This public selection format was later suggested to be ‘All Together Now’. According to OGAE Greece, this will no longer be the case for next year, but is still on the cards for 2024.

Following the confirmation from Thanasis Tsokos (the Director General of RIK) and Giorgos Arsenakos (the CEO of Panik Entertainment Group), the partnership between the Cypriot broadcaster and the Greek record label will continue at least until 2024.

According to OGAE Greece, All Together Now is set to be used to select Cyprus’ Eurovision 2024 entry, having previously been slated to be used for next year’s contest.

As for next year’s contest, the site states that the Cypriot entry for 2023 will be selected internally once again, as has been the case for the past seven years. In addition, Panik is hoping to put forward an artist of Cypriot origin. Although it’s worth noting that this intention had been stated previously.

Cyprus at Eurovision

Although RIK has opted for internal selections in recent years, there was a time where Cyprus hosted national selections for Eurovision. Their last national final was the Eurovision Song Project back in 2015. This selection not only produced their 2015 entrant John Karagiannis, but also Minus One (2016) and Hovig (2017).

After the three Eurovision Song Project alumni, RIK has mostly opted for Greek female pop soloist, bringing consecutive qualifications with Eleni Foureira (2018), Tamta (2019) and Elena Tsagrinou (2021). This year, Andromache brought the Greek language back to the Eurovision stage for Cyprus for the first time since 2013. She sadly failed to qualify with her “Ela”, placing 9th with the televote, 18th with the juries and 12th overall with 63 points.
