Rehearsal review

Firstly, I cannot stress how much I love their styling. The black sparkly outfits feel expensive, but still fun, like the staging itself. From their Beovizija 2020 styling and other music videos, this feels like a new lane for them.

Whilst the music video brought the dreaded 80s aesthetic that has appeared one too many times on the Ahoy stage, their styling is clean and crisp. The pallet is red, black and white, making it feel distinct. Even when the pink, blues and yellows come in towards the end, it doesn’t feel derivative.

There are perhaps one too many wide shots, making them look tiny against a huge LED. The choreography is impactful, but the vocal remained consistent throughout. Their decision to have backing singers instead of backing dancers was a wise one. While the performers are ready for showtime, the effects need a bit of polishing to ensure that they have maximum impact.

Ksenija in particular impressed me vocally today, doing a lot of work to complement Sanja, who brought it home towards the end. Although I understand the need to mark a performance during the initial rehearsals, I appreciated Hurricane going full-throttle from the start. They didn’t come to play.
