Michael Schulte surprises The Voice of Germany contestant Fabian Riaz

Eurovision entrant joins contestant for a duet

A remarkable scene occured on The Voice of Germany this part Thursday. Before going on stage, Fabian Riaz was surprised by none other than Michael Schulte. Check out why he did that below…

“You Let Me Walk Alone” for four chairs

Fabian chose to audition on The Voice of Germany with “You Let Me Walk Alone”. During his segment on the show, he was asked about his fiancée: Jamie-Lee Kriewitz. The now 20 year old singer won The Voice of Germany before taking part at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2016. There, she finished in last place with her “Ghost”. Fabian also received a little surprise visit before he went on stage.

The original singer of his audition song, Michael Schulte, came over to the studio to have a chat with Fabian. After Michael wished him the very best of luck, Fabian took to the stage. He soon impressed all of the coaches. Michael Patrick Kelly soon turned around, followed by Yvonne Catterfeld, Michi&Smudo and finally Mark Forster. Backstage, his family, friends and Schulte were celebrating.

Michael Schulte’s surprise visit clearly impressed him, as he mentioned it during his chat with the four coaches. Coach Yvonne Catterfeld suggested bringing Michael out on stage. Of course, this year’s German Eurovision entrant didn’t enter the stage for nothing. He soon suggested giving the audience a little duet between himself and Fabian.

Eventually, Fabian Riaz chose to enter Michael Patrick Kelly’s team. The Irish-American singer was the most convincing one of the four, claiming he didn’t even want to say what exactly it was he liked, but instead just giving Fabian the compliments of absolutely blowing him away.

Michael Schulte at Eurovision

At this year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon, Michael Schulte finished in a surprising fourth place. His song “You Let Me Walk Alone”, dedicated to his father, impressed Europe on the night.

Germany’s fourth place was a return to the left side of the scoreboard for the Big Five member. The last time they finished in the top five before Michael Schulte did was back in 2012 with Roman Lob’s “Standing Still”.
