Turin 2022🇫🇮 Finland

Yle cancels UMK22 after-party, still hopes to get audience for the final

The venue is sold out

Finland’s national broadcaster Yle has today announced that they have to cancel the after-party of UMK22. They are still hopeful that they can get audience for the final on February 26.

Yle says that the UMK22 final will be held with the audience, if it is allowed due to restrictions. However, the event will end after the final and the after-party of the show has been cancelled. Yle will actively follow the health and safety guidelines of the authorities in Finland. The show in Turku’s Logomo is sold out. In 2021, the final of Finland’s national selection was held without the audience.

Recently, Estonia also had to adjust their plans for the live shows of Eesti Laul as a result of the pandemic, as Iceland postponed their Söngvakeppnin with one week. Sweden also announced the cancellation of the famous Melodifestivalen Tour, with all shows taking place in Stockholm this year.

Yle was set to have a big after-party after the final, with performances from the DJs Anne Lainto, Renaz and DJ Orkidea as well as Club La Persé, who took part in Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu in 2017. However, we can trust that the final will be a big party with the seven competing artists, all hoping to represent Finland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 and guest artists, who will be announced later.

The eleventh edition of Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu will take place on February 26th at 20:00 CET. The Finnish public (75%) together with international juries (25%) will choose Finland’s representative for Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Turin. The seven contestants who are taking part are Cyan Kicks, BESS, The Rasmus, Younghearted, Olivera, Tommi Läntinen and Isaac Sene.
