Rehearsal review

Stage presentation

Alvan & Ahez have elevated their staging from the national final to the Eurovision stage. The podium is made of Stonehenge-esque rock formation stones and feels authentic. The four performers are joined by an interpretative dancer who helps bring more life to the stage while Alvan & Ahez concentrate on their vocals.

The screens contain a lot of Celtic imagery and the performance has boundless amounts of fire pyro as part of the chorus, as well as cauldrons lit on stage too. There are projects onto the sun and the whole stage is consistently flooded with green. The last shot has Alvan winking to camera.

Costumes and styling

The group are dressed in a more embellished version of their national final outfits. Black with green Celtic embroidery.

Vocal quality

The vocals from both Alvan and the ladies of Ahez are incredibly consistent and strong throughout. The trills are loud, tonally excellent and enjoyable. It’s ambitious but effectively pulled off.

Overall impression

Visually spectacular and sonically confident, France has really made a statement with this performance of “Fulenn”. The pacing of this performance is very full-on and intense, but it’s clear that France has spent big on making sure this stands out as best as possible in the Grand Final.
