🇬🇧 BBC’s Eurovision special will not clash with ‘Europe Shine a Light’ on 16th May

UK fans can watch both shows live on 16th May

Some good news for UK fans! The BBC’s “Come Together” Eurovision special will not clash with the EBU’s official special ‘Europe Shine a Light‘ on the evening of Saturday 16th May.

Shortly after the EBU’s decision to cancel the 2020 contest due to the Coronavirus pandemic, many of this year’s participating broadcasters announced plans for alternative Eurovision programming to fill their schedule. The BBC were first to confirm that they would be producing a special, to be shown on the night of what would have been the grand final. Following this, the EBU also announced a special live show for the same evening, which would showcase and celebrate this year’s entries.

It was recently confirmed that the BBC would not be broadcasting the EBU’s special on one their linear channels. Instead, audiences would be able to watch the show via their online streaming service, BBC iPlayer.

This led to frustation from many, with the prospect of both shows airing simultaneously and having to choose which one to watch live.

Schedules for the evening now confirm that the BBC special will air at 18:30 BST on BBC One for approximately 90 minutes. “Europe Shine a Light” will immediately follow at 20:00 BST and can be seen on BBC iPlayer, the official Eurovision YouTube channel or through the channel of another broadcaster.
