Iveta Mukuchyan drops video for new single “Armenian Girls”

After setting the Eurovision stage alight in Stockholm back in 2016, Iveta Mukuchyan has been working non-stop. Whether it’s appearing in adverts across Armenia, launching fashion lines or acting as an international jury member in Destination Eurovision; it’s been a busy two years for the Armenian starlet. Of course, she has also been prolifically releasing music. Most recently, she released two parts of an audio-visual trilogy and brand new single, “Armenian Girls”.

The Journey of a Woman

Last month, Eurovision 2016 star Iveta Mukuchyan shared the first two installments of a project titled The Journey of a Woman. The first installment was the dark and cinematic “Margo”, the start of ‘a journey of a woman who was about to die but walked into life again.’ Then came part 2, the brassy and audacious “Rich Bitch”,  the closing shot of which was marked ‘to be continued.’

As fans eagerly anticipate the third installment of the trilogy, Iveta has decided to keep them on their toes a little longer by releasing a new, separate project. Indeed, “Armenian Girls” is more than just a song; it is also a visual concept, executed with all the polish, quality and thought that fans have come to expect from Iveta.

But worry not, in an interview with Wiwibloggs, she confirmed that the final installment of The Journey of a Woman trilogy will be released early next year.

An Armenian affair

The single was composed as an ode to the women of Armenia, as well as a celebration of Armenian culture. The lyrics, entirely in Armenian, are drawn from the poem “Hayastani Aghjikner” by Hovhannes Shiraz, one of Iveta’s favourite poets.

In addition to its poetry, Iveta also used the video to showcase Armenian paintings; the dancers in gallery scenes are wearing the work of Minas Avetisyan on their blouses. Always working closely with designers, she enlisted Mery Stepanyan to design the stunning looks for the video.

The video works as a colourful and high-impact showcase of Armenian talent, see it for yourself!
