SVT will present the 28 artists who will take part in Melodifestivalen 2019 tomorrow morning, but Swedish tabloid Aftonbladet is giving us some last minute rumours.
According to them, Arja Saijonmaa and Andreas Johnson will return to Melodifestivalen. Girl group High15 are set to make their Melodifestivalen debut in 2019.
Finnish singer Arja Saijonmaa has competed in national selections in both Finland and Sweden. She first took part in Finland’s national selection in 1971 with “Talvilintu” and her first album was released the following year.
In 1987 she finished second in Melodifestivalen with “Högt över havet”. Later the song won the inaugural OGAE Second Chance Contest. Most recently she took part in Melodifestivalen in 2005 with schlager song “Vad du än trodde så trodde du fel”.
Seventh time for Johnson
Andreas Johnson first took part in Melodifestivalen in 2006 with “Sing for Me”. He was the favourite of the jury and placed third behind Carola and BWO.
He then returned to Melodifestivalen in 2007 and 2008. In 2008 he sang the song “One Love” with Eurovision winner Carola, but was eliminated in the andra chansen. He also competed in Melodifestivalen in 2010, 2012 and 2015.
Sweden’s next big girl group?
