Srbuk will represent Armenia in Eurovision 2019!

The broadcaster responsible for the Armenian participation in the Eurovision Song Contest, AMPTV, has announced that Srbuk will be representing the nation in the 2019 edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. The contest will take place in Tel Aviv, Israel.

In addition, AMPTV has launched a submissions process for songwriters to submit songs for Srbuk to perform in Tel Aviv. The submissions period closes on January 10th, and interested parties can find the full guidelines here. Furthermore, the broadcaster has uploaded the following promotional video!

About Srbuk

This year, Srbuhi Sargsyan took part in the Ukrainian edition of The Voice. As part of “Team Potap”, Srbuk went on to finish in fourth-place. After the contest, she signed a contract with Armenian agency Factory Production and, a few days ago, released a single titled “Half a Goddess”. 

Armenia at the Eurovision Song Contest

Debuting in 2006, Armenia has competed at the contest on 12 occasions. Their only non-participation since debuting came in 2012 when the contest was held in Baku, Azerbaijan. Armenia is usually quite successful on the whole, only having two non-qualifications. They came in 2011 when Emmy sang “Boom Boom” and in 2018 when Sevak Khanagyan sang “Qami”.

Armenia has finished in the top 10 on eight occasions with their most successful result being two fourth-places. Their first took place in 2008 when Sirusho sang “Qélé, Qélé” and achieved 199 points in the process. Armenia got their second fourth-place in 2014 when Aram MP3 sang “Not Alone”, amassing 174 points.
