Our #ESC250 votes – Part 2: Vincent, Riccardo & Sami

Sami: You’ll see me dancing for my life

While I have listened all the 1523 entries (and the ones eliminated in the pre-qualifying rounds in 1993 and 1996), for some reason my lists consists of songs from the 21st century.

#10 – 🇳🇴 JOWST – Grab the Moment (Norway 2017)

This was probably the hardest place to decide, as there are so many songs that would have deserved at least some points. I decided to go with Norway’s entry in 2017. I really like it how they tried to make the contest more modern and brought something that we have never seen before. The song itself is an anthem that always makes me feel a bit better about myself.

#9 – 🇹🇷 maNga – We Could Be the Same (Turkey 2010)

Since I was a teen, I’ve been listening to some rock bands and especially in 2010, maNga represented everything I loved in music. After that I’ve been listening to more pop music, but I still absolutely love this song. I think we still don’t have enough rock music in the contest, even maNga proved you can do extremely well with this genre.

#8 – 🇧🇬 Poli Genova – If Love Was a Crime (Bulgaria 2016)

While “Na inat” was good, but maybe bit bland, Poli Genova’s comeback entry is absolutely brilliant. I loved the song from the first time I heard it and it just kept on growing for me throughout the spring of 2016. The performance works well, even Poli is mostly alone on the stage and I am a big fan of choreographies with many dancers. One thing I would have changed, I think Poli’s outfit lit up way too late. I would have done it when she was singing “when it’s dark we illuminate”.
