#7 – 🇧🇬 Equinox – Bones (Bulgaria 2018)
From Bulgaria’s second best entry to their best. “Bones” is just spectacular. I have to admit, the performance could have been a bit better, I am not a big fan of the effects on the screen. But the song, it’s just stunning. I love the concept, I love the lyrics and I love the vocals. I am stunned that this didn’t place any higher.
#6 – 🇸🇪 Robin Bengtsson – I Can’t Go On (Sweden 2017)
Melodifestivalen 2017 had lots of good songs but not that many stood out. I loved two entries “Wild Child” by Ace Wilder, and my favourite “I Can’t Go On” by Robin Bengtsson. I already liked “Constellation Prize”, but no matter how simple it is, I fell in love with “I Can’t Go On” on the first listen. After seeing the performance I wanted it to win so bad. I am glad the international juries saw the potential in this and Robin definitely deserved to place in top five in the actual contest.
#5 – 🇳🇴 Mørland & Debrah Scarlett – A Monster Like Me (Norway 2015)
While most of the songs on my list are more or less upbeat, there has to be one ballad. And “A Monster Like Me” is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. While we never hear the full story, I think that is why this song is so brilliant. The last chorus always gives me chills. Televoters had no taste in 2015, but I am glad the juries gave this enough points for it to place in top ten.
