Selecţia Naţională final to take place on March 5

Romania's artist for Eurovision 2022 in Turin will be revealed on March 5 and once again decided via Selecţia Naţională.

Last week, Romanian broadcaster TVR revealed that Romania will once again be selecting its Eurovision 2022 artist via Selecţia Naţională. To add to the excitement, TVR recently announced that the world will find out Romania’s Eurovision representative on March 5! There are a very exciting few months of competition ahead.

Submissions opened on November 26 and TVR will welcome songs from budding artists until December 19. Then, on December 21-22, a jury will review all submissions and choose the 45 best songs to progress to the next stage. Results will be available on TVR’s website the very next day on December 23.

Things will start to get exciting in February, where the competition will involve a two-part semifinal throughout February that precedes the ultimate final on March 5.

Semi Final: Stage 1

The first stage of the semi final is set to take place between February 5-10, where the best 45 songs from the preselection stage will be posted on TVR’s YouTube channel. From there, the best 20 songs will proceed to the second stage of the semi-final.

An expert jury will select the best 15 of these and the Romanian public will have a say in who receives the remaining 5 spots.  

Semi Final: Stage 2

The second stage of the semi-final will be televised on Feburary 12. Here, all contestants will have the opportunity to perform their songs live. From there, a specialist jury will select the best 10 songs to qualify for the final.

Selecţia Naţională Final

The final of Selecţia Naţională will televised live on March 5. The result will decided via a combination of both jury and public votes. The lucky winner will receive the ticket to Turin represent Romania in Eurovision 2022!

Romania at Eurovision

Romania will surely be looking to improve their Eurovision track record, as it has been four years since they last reached the final with Ilinca and Alex Florea placing 7th in 2017 with “Yodel It!”. We can only look forward to where a new generation of inspired artists will take Romania next.
