Another week comes to an end and that means it’s New Music Friday! So it’s time to share the best new releases from the Eurovision world, and they’re busier than ever as the door on the 2022 season closes. Over the following pages is everything you need to know for your weekend playlists!
Sam Ryder – ‘Somebody’
First up on New Music Friday is not just ‘Somebody’, but the United Kingdom’s Eurovision 2022 runner-up, Sam Ryder! Today he releases his first single since that night in Turin. The happy-go-lucky singer brings his positive attitude in this feel-good anthem that teaches us to be good to each other and appreciate our favourite people around us. Later this year Sam will release debut album, There’s Nothing But Space, Man on October 14 and will be on tour across Europe in 2023.
Kristian Kostov – ‘Intentional’
It has been a quiet year for Bulgaria’s Eurovision 2017 runner-up, Kristian Kostov since the release of ‘Built Different’. Now the young singer has found his voice again and once more teams up with brother, Daniel Kostov, producer Sasha Xuman and the VOSTOK project to release new single, ‘Intentional’. This self-described ‘joyful therapy’ is a downtempo pop-ballad reflecting on Kristian’s emotional and musical growth as an artist after a challenging few years.
Duncan Laurence – ‘Electric Life’
Not many people have lived the electric life that Duncan Laurence has in recent years. From winning Eurovision in 2019, the ‘Arcade’ singer has cracked America and seen his entry become the most streamed Eurovision entry of all-time with over 10 billion global streams. Now he releases his latest single ‘Electric Life’. A melancholic anthem with a subtle hint of optimism, as Duncan reminds us that loss and grief is valid and never forgotten, but to use it to enjoy what we still have.
I sing about a warm, loving and grateful feeling towards loved ones who have passed away. It is a positive song about the transformation of deep sorrow into a feeling of hope. Delving into your memories like that probably comes closest to a brief visit to heaven and being there with all the ones you have lost.

Jamala – ‘Thank you, Stranger’
After Jamala’s own traumatic upheaval to save her family from the horrors of war and many months fundraising and raising awareness for others less fortunate, now the former Eurovision winner wants to say thank you. This latest single is a moving tribute and recognition to everyone that put humanity first, no matter how big or small their contribution. From donations to sheltering refugees, Ukraine gives thanks to everyone around the world that has supported their plight. Together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the video campaign and Beatles inspired single will allow Ukrainian people to send messages of thanks through Jamala’s socials. After which she will perform a special personalised version of each message.
