On 5th April, the 2018 London Eurovision Party preview event took place at the iconic Café de Paris in London’s Leicester Square. Over 20 of this year’s Eurovision artists took to the stage to perform not only their Eurovision tracks but other songs as well. A handful of special guest artists also wowed the crowd in London! Saara Aalto will surprise the audience tonight at the London Eurovision Party 2018!
Just moments before the London Eurovision Party 2018 gets going at Café de Paris in Leicester Square, we are delighted to announce that Saara Aalto, representing Finland, will be a surprise guest performer at tonight’s show! Café de Paris hosts a Queen tonight as Saara performs Monsters YLE’s announcement that Saara had been internally selected to represent Finland late last year thrilled fans. After twice competing in Finland’s national selection and placing second both times, Saara built up a substantial following amongst the Eurovision fan community. In late 2016, Saara entered The X Factor UK and reached the live shows. After three bottom two appearances, Saara won round the British public in spectacular fashion and reached the final, performing in front of thousands of fans at Wembley Arena. She placed second, finishing behind close friend Matt Terry. Following her internal selection, Saara made it her mission to find three perfect Eurovision songs to battle it out in the UMK final at the beginning of March. Monsters won both the televote and the International jury vote and became Finland’s entry for the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest. LEP has Never Given Up on You, Lucie Jones!
The United Kingdom’s Eurovision entrant in 2017, Lucie Jones, will return to Café de Paris to perform at the London Eurovision Party 2018 on Thursday, 5th April. We are delighted to welcome her back to our fantastic venue to perform her beautiful entry, “Never Give Up on You”. Lucie Jones wowed the crowd in 2017 In advance of jetting off to Kyiv, Ukraine, to represent the United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest 2017, Lucie Jones was the Headline Act for the London Eurovision Party. Her performance of “Never Give Up on You” enchanted the crowd as they swayed and sang along with Lucie’s beautiful vocals. To wow the crowd even further, she then joined the Spanish representative Manel Navarro in a duet of Martin Garrix & Bebe Rexha hit “In the Name of Love”, having struck up a friendship whilst touring the continent at the pre-Eurovision preview events last spring. Immediately after her Eurovision experience in Kyiv, Lucie returned to the stage. An Equinox will be seen at the London Eurovision Party 2018!
The London Eurovision Party 2018 are privileged to announce that Equinox, representing Bulgaria, will give the very first live performance of their entry “Bones” at Café de Paris, Leicester Square on Thursday, 5th April. 5 soloists come together in a joint project between BNT and Symphonix Bulgarian broadcaster for Eurovision, BNT, have assembled five solo artists to perform “Bones” in Lisbon, Portugal this May. The five artists who comprise Equinox are Zhana Bergendorff, Vlado Mihailov – Vladdi, Georgi Simeonov – JJ, Johnny Manuel and Trey Campbell Zhana Bergendorff was the winner of the second season of X Factor Bulgaria. Vlado Mihailov – Vladdi performed backing vocals for Kristian Kostov’s runner-up entry “Beautiful Mess” in 2017 and is the front man for popular Bulgarian groups Safo and Sleng. Georgi Simeonov – JJ is a singer/songwriter and vocal producer and former member of popular Bulgarian boyband 032. Johnny Manuel was an America’s Got Talent semifinalist in 2017. Jessika & Jenifer Brening will perform at the London Eurovision Party 2018!
The victors of the 1in360 selection process for San Marino, Jessika and Jenifer Brening will be performing at the London Eurovision Party 2018 at the iconic Café de Paris venue situated in Leicester Square on Thursday 5th April! The duo who hail from Malta and Germany respectively will perform their Eurovision entry “Who We Are”. Anti-bullying message with a charity campaign The song, “Who We Are”, describes the struggles of anyone who at some point in their life was subjected to harrassing and demeaning treatment, whether in school, at their workplace or on social media and is an anti-bullying anthem informed by Jessika’s personal experiences. Between the date of their selection and their performance at Eurovision in Lisbon, Portugal, Jessika will participate in charity runs across Europe to raise money for anti-bullying causes, which will be donated to the Diana Award. Felix Sandman will join Benjamin Ingrosso at the London Eurovision Party 2018!
We are delighted to announce that the London Eurovision Party 2018 will reunite the top two finalists of Melodifestivalen 2018 – Felix Sandman will perform at our event having finished runner-up to his compatriot and good friend Benjamin Ingrosso at this year’s competition. Felix Sandman will perform his song, “Every Single Day”, which is still at number one in Sweden. From FO&O to Felix Sandman Felix Sandman has been in the public eye for a number of years, having been a member of the young pop group The Fooo Conspiracy since their foundation in October 2013. The group then became FO&O in 2017 after the departure of a member. FO&O participated at Melodifestivalen 2017, proceeding to the Final via Andra chansen, with the entry “Gotta Thing About You”. This year, Felix Sandman branched out on his own with a very different style of entry. Ari Ólafsson is our choice for the London Eurovision Party 2018!
Having won this year’s Icelandic national selection, the London Eurovision Party 2018 is now delighted to announce that Ari Ólafsson will be performing at Café de Paris on Thursday, 5th April. Our Choice to Lisbon! Iceland used their usual selection format this year. Söngvakeppnin whittled down its choices over two semifinals and then further still, narrowing the field to a superfinal of their best two candidates. In a tough battle vs Dagur Sigurðsson, Ari Ólafsson came out on top with his entry “Our Choice”, performed in English, winning with 53% of the vote! Earlier in the competition, the song was performed in Icelandic – “Heim” – alongside all the other competitors. It was then in the final that Ari Ólafsson decided to switch his entry into English for consideration by the Icelandic audience as their Eurovision entry. #LEP2018 hits 20! Ari Ólafsson is our twentieth act to be confirmed for the London Eurovision Party 1018. Corinne Hermès will perform at the London Eurovision Party 2018
The French chanteuse who won the Eurovision Song Contest 1983 for Luxembourg, Corinne Hermès, will be performing her winning entry “Si la vie est cadeau” on the London Eurovision Party 2018 stage at Café de Paris, Leicester Square on Thursday, 5th April. This exciting announcement is made in conjunction with event sponsor OGAE UK who are delighted to be able to confirm Corinne Hermès’s appearance at our event. Luxembourg’s fifth win! “Si la vie est cadeau” led to Luxembourg’s fifth Eurovision win in 1983 when the contest was held in Munich, West Germany. The song, written by Jean-Pierre Millers and Alain Garcia, gave the young 22-year-old performer her breakthrough on the international stage.
