Next up for their first rehearsal is Amaia & Alfred for Spain. We have just watched their latest run through of Tu Canción live on screen and here is our initial reaction.

Staging

Amaia and Alfred begin their performance on either side of the stage, walking towards each other during the first chorus. There’s heavy use of steadycam throughout the entire performance, which begins during the first chorus. Amaia and Alfred only interact with each other.
As the second verse begins, Alfred is behind Amaia and holding her waist. They stand apart for the second chorus, looking out to the audience and cameras. For the middle 8, Amaia and Alfred walk in a circular motion, and the steadycam also moves in a circular motion to give a gentle, sweeping effect.
White lights break the darkness for the final chorus in which the Spanish couple are holding hands. They finish the performance with Amaia placing her hand on Alfred’s shoulder, with their noses touching.

Camera shots in this performance: 30

Vocals

Amaia and Alfred’s vocals are both perfect, it is identical to the studio version of the song. Very well done.

Costume

Alfred is wearing a maroon suit, with silver embroidery on his shoulder. Underneath the suit is a white shirt. Amaia is wearing a silky white dress which is almost full length, finishing a few inches above her ankles.
