LISTEN: SuRie pursues a quirkier sound with new single “Taking It Over”

It was a dramatic 2018 Eurovision Song Contest for SuRie, but she weathered the Storm and gave her performance in the Altice Arena absolutely everything she had for the United Kingdom. Now, straight off the back of Eurovision, SuRie is back with a brand new single: Taking It Over!

A more indie-leaning sound

Taking It Over sees SuRie move away from the dance-pop sound of Storm. For her brand new single, SuRie has chosen to pursue a more indie-pop route with its dark synths and minimalist sound. Arguably, it wouldn’t sound out of place in Belgium’s recent run of Eurovision entries with the experimental sound that Rhythm Inside and City Lights in particular both contained. Of course, SuRie was a backing vocalist for both Loïc and Blanche respectively.

I’m taking it over, let me get this right. I won’t mess it up, there aren’t no rules tonight.
