Andorra will not be participating in Eurovision 2024

Their last participation was in 2009, and unfortunately Andorra has shared that fans cannot expect a return from the country in the Eurovision Song Contest 2024.

Susanne Georgi’s support for Andorra’s return

Dani Ortolà, who is the Content Manager of Andorra’s broadcaster RTVA talked to Eurofestivales about the possibility of Andorra’s return to the contest. Unfortunately, he stated that:

“Despite being part of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), we have no plans to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest in the short or medium term.”

The hope for Andorra’s return to the contest stems in particular from the exciting news that Luxembourg will return in 2024, a country which has not participated since 1993. Andorra participated in the contest between 2004 and 2009, but unfortunately never made it to the Grand Final. However, Andorra’s last participant to date, Susanne Georgi, has been a strong supporter of her country’s return to the contest. She stated that she had a verbal green light from the broadcaster that they would return in 2022, but unfortunately that did not happen in the end.

Andorra at the Eurovision Song Contest

Andorra first made their Eurovision debut in 2004. Marta Roure represented the country with “Jugarem a estimar-nos” and finished 18th in the semi-final, with 12 points. They also failed to make the final in 2005.

It wasn’t until 2006 that Andorra internally selected an entry to take part in the contest. Jenny became the first internally-selected act, in Athens. Her song “Sense tu” finished last in the semi-final with 8 points – Andorra’s worst result to date. Andorra’s best result came in 2007 with Anonymous’ “Salvem el món” which finished 12th in the semi-final.

Their most recent participation was in Moscow, in 2009. Susanne Georgi represented the microstate with “La teva decisio (Get a Life)”. The broadcaster decided not to return to the 2010 contest due to financial issues. They have not returned to the contest since.
