Tusse releases new single ‘Grow’

Tusse's first new follow up single to 'Voices'

It is New Music Friday and the Congo-Kinshasa born soul crooner, Tusse is back with his first single since the Eurovision 2021 contest in Rotterdam. Now Tusse is ready to ‘Grow’ in a rousing anthem which casts a light on the issues young people are facing today.

As a young man who had to grow up early, fleeing his home country as a refugee and eventually settling in Sweden with his aunt, Tusse knows better than anyone, the harsh realities of life. Now the 19 year old is juggling his passion for music, as well as his studies. Which presents new challenges for those thrust under the microscopic gaze of entertainment media. All this of manifests into the relatable new single ‘Grow’, which touches on many of these subjects. A song for anyone struggling to find their place in the world, Tusse finally knows himself and the expression of his musicality. with his rich voice elevating the mid-tempo piano melody. The moral story emphasised as Tusse is backed by a children’s choir.

The song is a collaborative effort between Tusse, along with Amanda Cygnaeus, Petter Tarland, Pär Westerlund, and is produced by Paro.

“It’s not easy being young today and all the challenges kids face each and every day. Not only do you have to find yourself and try to fit in, you also worry about the climate and the environment and what the future will look like. On top of that, you have to fight mental illness, pandemics, racism, sexism, homophobia and so much more. This song is for all young people who keep fighting. This is our fight song.”

Meanwhile Tusse is very conscious of the world and environment he is growing up in too. Tusse in the Eurovision Song Contest 2021

From an early age, Tusse was born to sing. After reaching the Semi-Finals of Sweden’s Got Talent in 2018, he quickly followed up his talent show prowess in winning Swedish Idol 2019. Of course, it wasn’t long before the Melodifestivalen rumour mill began to swirl.

Earlier this year Tusse and his powerful entry ‘Voices’ stormed to landslide victory in Melodifestivalen 2021. Thus he became the first artist to win both Swedish Idol and Melodifestivalen. Moreover, this impressive result saw Tusse receive a record breaking, near 3 million votes from the televote. As well as achieving 12s in every voting age group and receiving 79 points from the international jury, the combined result totalling 175 points. Earning Tusse his place as the 60th entrant for Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest.

At the Rotterdam contest, Tusse qualified from Semi-Final 1 in 7th place with 142 points. During the Grand Final, Tusse finished in a respectable 14th place with 109 points.
